Men's races on the Gran Risa slope in La Villa

December 2015 - 30. anniversary Ski World Cup in Alta Badia

With a vertical drop of 448 m (1469ft) on a 1255 m (4117ft) length and a maximum slope of 53%, the Gran Risa slope in La Villa is considered as one of the most beautiful slopes in the Ski World Cup.

The breathtaking descent in the forest begins just below the bifurcation of the black and red slopes of Piz La Ila. After the steep slope at the beginning a rapid curve leads on a steep, narrow channel. After a second change of direction the slope ends up to the finish.

Sellaronda Skimarathon

The international ski touring night marathon, is a team race for trained ski tourers

The Sellaronda Skimarathon, the international touring ski competition by night across the Dolomite passes of Campolongo, Pordoi, Sella and Gardena, is a competition for teams of two. It is a technically challenging competition which is suitable only for expert skiers in this discipline.

Equipped with touring skis, sealskins and a head torch, competitors ski on the wonderful Dolomite ski slopes by night, passing through the villages of Corvara, Arabba, Canazei and Selva Gardena, which take it in turns to host the start and finish every year.

The athlethes participanting in the Sellarond Skimarathon have to manage 42 km (26mi) with approx. 2,700 m (8858ft) of altitude difference.

The endurance race is only for highly trained skiers who have to be prepared for unsafe tracks and changing weather conditions.


Ski Carousel Vintage Party

The ski season closing party with the special vintage atmosphere

Saturday, 2nd & Sunday, 3rd April 2016

For the Ski Carousel Vintage Party, scheduled for early April, there will be a vintage feel all around Alta Badia. The Alta Badia Tourism Board and the ski lift company Skicarosello will recreate the look and the feel of the ski area from decades past.

This will take place both in the valley and directly on the slopes. Participants dress and carry skis from the 1950’s to the 1990’s to create a fascinating vintage atmosphere throughout the region.
From Saturday evening to Sunday there will be a series of events on the slopes and in the valley.
